Tips for Storing Coffee

One of life’s simple pleasures is the first sip of a fresh cup of coffee. You can ensure every morning brew you make tastes great by properly storing the beans.

Freeze Your Beans
Keep your coffee beans and ground coffee fresh by freezing them. Store them in an airtight container in the back of your freezer for optimal results. For freshest taste, only remove the amount of coffee you’ll need for up to a week at a time.

Keep Them Contained
While glass containers are beautiful pieces to display in the kitchen, they’re not ideal for storing coffee. Instead, use a plastic, opaque, and airtight container to protect your coffee from air, light, and moisture.

Grind What You Need
Since freshly ground coffee begins to degrade in flavor and taste almost immediately, only grind what you need when you need it. When you store newly ground coffee in an opaque, airtight container, it will stay fresh for up to two weeks.

Store in the Pantry
The pantry is the best and most practical place to store your whole-bean or ground coffee. When it’s stored in opaque, airtight containers in a dark cabinet, it can stay fresh and flavorful for about two weeks at a time.
