A Conversation with Jenny-Lyn Yoon from City Mom Collective
We sat down with Jenny-Lyn Yoon, a mom, Pampered Chef enthusiast, and a leading voice at City Mom Collective, to talk about the importance of family time in the kitchen—and why she’s excited about this new partnership.
Q: For those who may not know, what is City Mom Collective?
City Mom Collective is a trusted national resource created by moms, for moms. We’re passionate about encouraging women in every stage of motherhood and equipping them with meaningful, relatable content for the adventure of raising children.
Through our parent company, City Mom Media, we connect brands with a network of hyperlocal parenting sites across the country—pairing national messaging with authentic, local mom-to-mom voices. Together with our national website and social channels, we help brands connect with mothers in genuine and lasting ways.
Q: Jenny-Lyn, tell us a little about yourself.
I live in Minnesota with my family and cherish the simple things—cooking a great meal, enjoying coffee on the deck, and taking spontaneous road trips off the beaten path.
Q: What do you love about Pampered Chef?
Anyone who knows me knows my kitchen is filled with Pampered Chef products. I’m a “buy it once, buy it right” kind of person, so I really value quality—and some of my tools are over 20 years old! I started using Pampered Chef back in high school and have been a loyal fan ever since. Their commitment to quality and customer service is unmatched.
Q: What excites you most about the Kids Club Box Series?
As a mom who’s had my kids in the kitchen since they were toddlers, I love how this series encourages curiosity and hands-on learning. What I really appreciate is that it doesn’t just give kids toy versions of kitchen tools—it equips them with real tools and teaches them real skills. It’s empowering to show your child how to use something like a Mix ‘n Chop and see them take pride in what they can do.
Q: Why is it important to get kids in the kitchen early?
Learning to cook is such a valuable gift we can give our children. My sons have grown up helping in the kitchen, and some of our sweetest memories are tied to baking and cooking together. Sure, it teaches math, science, and following instructions—but it also builds patience, confidence, and resilience.
Q: Why should moms consider the Kids Club for their family?
Because it’s fun! The Kids Club Series is not only hands-on, it teaches essential life skills in an exciting way. Getting their very own box—filled with tools and recipes just for them—makes kids feel seen and included.
What are your favorite Pampered Chef products?
That’s a tough one! But if I had to choose, I’d say the Pizza Stone. I’ve had mine for years, and it just keeps getting better with time. I feel good about the all-natural stoneware, and making pizza at home with the boys is one of our favorite meals to cook together!
Q: Do you have any tips for cooking with kids?
Absolutely! First, manage your expectations—it won’t always be clean or quick, but it’s always worth it. Cooking together is just as much about bonding as it is about the food.
Start small. Let toddlers add pre-measured ingredients and celebrate their efforts. Clap, cheer, and build that confidence! As they grow, teach them to measure themselves, then assign them tasks. It’s such a win when your 9-year-old can pull out all the ingredients and help lead the recipe prep. It’s not just helpful—it’s empowering.
Make Crunchy Yogurt Parfaits Yourself
Yield: 2 parfaits
Ingredients
- 2 cups (500 mL) yogurt (any flavor!)
- 1 cup (250 mL) berries (try blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries)
- 2 graham crackers
- ½ cup (125 mL) pretzel twists
Directions
- Add ½ cup (125 mL) of the yogurt in each of 2 different bowls or parfait cups.
- Place the berries into a mixing bowl. Use the Mix ‘N Chop® to smash the fruit, giving it a little twist until you reach your desired texture.
- Place the graham crackers and pretzels into a mixing bowl. Use the Mix ‘N Chop® to crush them into chunky crumbs.
- Sprinkle a spoonful of the cracker/pretzel mix onto the yogurt. Add a layer of fruit. Repeat with the remaining yogurt, crunchies, and fruit until your cup is full.
Cook’s Tip: You can use frozen fruit instead of fresh. Just let it sit out on the counter for 5–10 minutes before mashing.
Whether you’re looking to make mealtime more meaningful or just need a way to keep little hands busy in the kitchen, the Pampered Chef Kids Club Box Series is here to help moms connect, teach, and make joyful messes alongside their kids.
